Up to 80% women experience nausea during the first few weeks of pregnancy (usually until 20 weeks). What begins as a queasy feeling in the morning continues throughout the day (and night). Sometimes, you may feel nauseous in the morning, but, it could hit you at any time of the day. And for some women, the condition is so debilitating that it affects normal life and even pushes them into depression.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum or HG is an extreme form of morning sickness that affects one in hundred moms-to-be. Women who suffer from HG experience severe vomiting, weight loss and electrolyte disturbance. Unless, the condition is severe, minor dietary changes should help you cope. Don’t fret over odd choices of food- eat what you can manage to without throwing up. Sour foods like citrus fruits, raw mango, etc. are a favorite. As for eating healthy, you can do so later on in your pregnancy when you are feeling better.
Remember to eat on time and get enough sleep!
The early signs of pregnancy are quite similar to symptoms you experience before periods. And tender breasts are one of them.
Your breasts may feel heavy and sore, and even appear swollen. Your old bra perhaps doesn’t fit as well as it did a few weeks before. As your body prepares for pregnancy, it produces more progesterone and estrogen. These hormones add a fat layer and increase blood flow to the breasts. But these experiences aren’t uniform- for some women these changes are rapid, while, for some women these changes are gradual. And some women do not experience any change at all.
To ease the soreness, buy bras with better support and pay attention to the size.
Fatigue is a common symptom of early pregnancy thanks to the hormone surge within the body. Nausea and vomiting may leave you tired and weary. It lasts until the beginning of your second trimester. But some women experience fatigue throughout their pregnancy. And in some cases, fatigue is related to iron deficiency.
Remember to take your multivitamin tablets without fail!
